TAPMA’s primary aim is to bring all the plastic industries under the one umbrella and to share/ disseminate information to the betterment of the plastics industries. TAPMA organizes seminars, lecture meeting, participating in National exhibitions, training programs, liaison between the Government and the industries, sponsoring buyer – seller meet, delegations to keep members abreast with the current status in the industries. TAPMA organized a number of awareness programs amongst the school children and the public to promote segregation of garbage to facilitate recycling of plastics.
The Tamil Nadu Plastics Manufacturer’s Association (TAPMA) Was incorporated as an Association of Plastics Manufacturers and Association in Tamil Nadu under the TN Societies Act 1975 in the year 1985(Reg. No.256). One of the pioneering projects commissioned was the census study of the plastics industry in 2001. The project was completed with support from the Govt Department of Industries and Commerce of Tamilnadu, ZDH and major raw material manufacturers in the company.
TAPMA , in line with Justice Ranganath Misra Committee, succeeded in convincing the States concerned(who proposed ban on manufacture, use and sale of plastics carry bags) not to impose blanket ban and insisted them for withdrawal of such notification. TAPMA today represent various segment of the industry such as machinery manufacturers, raw material manufacturers & distributors, processors, moulds / dies makers, trader’s exporters, importers, consultants, indenting companies, institutions and many more.
TAPMA represents in bodies like Regional Advisory Committee, RAC, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, Plastindia Foundation, All India Plastics Manufacturers Association, Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA), IIT, Anna University etc. TAPMA organized a number of awareness programs amongst the school children and the public to promote segregation of garbage to facilitate recycling of plastics.
